The Portfolio class challenges our students to explore different avenues of expression. A little competition also goes a long way. This project was a competition between Coastal Carolina University and SJSU.
The brainchild of a fellow Adobe Education Leader, with the participation of other AELs and design educators, students create and pitch brand identities and executions for a series of fictional restaurants. This is how it works: groups of 3, sometimes 4, students are assigned a client. The client has a new restaurant they need to brand. Through a series of meetings students in each group create a brand identity and advertising material for their client. This is an important point. Each student creates their own work, they compete against each other for that client's business. The winner from each client group records their pitch over a 24 hour period and a winner is selected from both schools. The grand final is judged by an independent judge (another AEL) and the winner takes bragging rights and a trophy.
We won the Fall 2021 Challenge - yay! Big cheers to Manuela Sevilla.
