This is a the second time around for this project that runs as the second "proper" assignment in my ADV 93 Design Fundamentals class. Students identify a tired brand with poor shelf-presence and create new labeling, perhaps a new product range, and create graphics in Illustrator. They then move to Dimension where they add these graphics to a range of 3-D assets, compose a scene and shoot the final result. Along the way they are also using Adobe Stock for accessing 3-D assets and textures.
After completion they will have understood the impact of trends on brands, they've understood packaging conventions in specific market categories, they've refreshed a brand, designed, created and shot the relaunch. They have switched their thinking from 2-D to 3-D. This serves as an introduction to working with 3-D objects as well as checking all those other skills off.
I have embedded my Spark assignment brief, Dimension workshop slide deck, final outcome example and student work.
