In this instance I have diverted completely from the exercise given in the FDI workshop but I am linking it to my Spark project. Again, this is a project that will be undertaken by students in the Fall. Picking up on the social justice theme, students are asked to design a set of three A3 posters for a series of interconnected events - a talk, a rally and a benefit gig. They may import assets from Illustrator, Photoshop, Fresco, Lightroom. Imagery may be original (preferred) or stock/found. Students need to consider layout, color, type, branding tone-of-voice.
A few examples of posters that students may be inspired by. All related to talks and gigs and rallies around human rights and social issues. Students will then sketch out ideas, identify typefaces, colors and keep a consistent theme across all three posters. They may create assets in Photoshop, Illustrator or Fresco and import to InDesign.

In these examples Eddie Vedder and Pearl Jam are the focus of the events. They are not only musicians but also activists. Eddie Vedder will deliver a talk at the University's Theater in the first instance. In this example we have created an organization that presents events of this nature.

In this example we have the benefit gig that happens the night after the talk. This poster is exclusively created in InDesign. A black and white is placed at the back and resized, a color box with 63% opacity is placed over the image and the text boxes are top and bottom. Point size defines the hierarchies. College logo is placed bottom right. Simple color scheme to connote the DIY nature of the benefit gig.

Rally for Human Rights poster where all assets were edited in InDesign.
